GCCM at Australian Suepryacht Rendezvous

Venue spotlight: Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard

In 2019, a fleet of superyachts will descend on Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard (GCCM) 10 nautical miles from the Southport Seaway for the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous (ASR).  It will undoubtedly by a glamorous affair where the leading yachts of Australia and the South Pacific will be presented to leading icons of the yachting industry, yacht owners and potential yacht owners.

Yet behind the event is the strength, scope and expertise of a working shipyard: GCCM.

It may be the third edition of the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous yet GCCM is entering its 20th year of operations.  The 17.5 hectare facility was the brainchild of Patrick Gay who saw an opportunity in the Australian marine industry to have a facility focused on the customers.  It is the marketplace model where the very best contractors were invited to take up residence at GCCM and collective offer the yachting community choice, flexibility and confidence.

GCCM Australian Superyacht Rendezvous

It has been a winning formula as GCCM is now Australia’s most awarded marina and shipyard.

In the intervening 20 years, the facility has upgraded its infrastructure, facilities and services to meet the everchanging needs of the yacht owners and their crew plus the growing size of modern yachts.  Today it is the home of 80 leading marine businesses employing 700 tradesmen and craftsmen.

In 2017, the GCCM team determined there was a need for a ‘big boat’ show in Australia thus the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous was born.

GCCM’s role in the event is to give a forum to the owners, captains, crew and industry to celebrate, promote and further its collective health and strength.  With room aplenty and a strong team to support the event, ASR has gone from strength to strength gaining more and more attention from around the globe.

So as GCCM comes into view as the yachts approach on the Thursday 16 May 2019, the captains will know they are approaching a facility which was designed with them in mind; a professional team empathetic to their needs; and an event whose sole purpose is to promote the great superyachts of this region.
